Flow Chart
If we act for you these will be the major steps: |
1. Initial consultation |
Please contact our office by phone or an e-mail form. After understanding the nature of your enquiry, we can explain how we can help you. At this stage, there is no fee involved. |
2. Contract negotiation |
If you choose us to act for you, we will go to the place of your choice, explain to you about the nature of the contract and its cost and fee and we will provide you a contract form. Please ask us any questions at this point (note that for some particular enquiries beyond the scope of the initial consultation and for enquiries not proceeding to a contract to act for you, there is a fee: 6,500 yen/hour (includes a consumption tax) ). At this stage, usually there is still no fee involved. |
3. Contract formalization |
After we receive a signed contract from you, we will issue an invoice for a non-refundable deposit (customarily, 50% of the fee) to commence work. A formal arrangement begins when the contract regarding your request is signed and the deposit payment has been confirmed. |
4. Provision of documents |
On confirmation of the deposit being paid, we will begin collecting necessary documents to accompany your application. Some documents such as those that are required to be sent from your home country may need to be requested by yourself. |
5. Confirmation and signing of documents |
Before we make an application to the Immigration Bureau of Japan, we will arrange a meeting at a place of your choice and confirm all the documents. After the confirmation, we will need your signature on the documents. |
6. Acting as your proxy to the Immigration Bureau of Japan |
I, Masami Sato, a “gyoseishoshi” (solicitor), will act as your proxy to the Immigration Bureau for your application. You will not have to present yourself unless the application is of a nature that requires your own presentation. After the application is made, it usually takes 1 to 3 months (about 6 months for Permanent Residency) to be assessed. Our office will be informed of the result of the assessment. |
7. If approved |
If the application is approved, our office will inform you and invoice you the remainder of our contracted fee. Upon confirmation of the payment, you will receive your new Resident Card. |
8. If not approved |
If the application is disapproved, there will be no further fee to pay to our office beyond the deposit that has already been paid. We can explain to you about the reason behind the disapproval and advise you about re-application, so that you may consider the next step to make. |
Please note that not all the applications would be approved since decisions are up to the discretion of the Minister of Justice.
